What should I do during a roof leak at night?

Move people and valuables away from the water, catch the drip in a bucket, take photos, and call or text me. Do not go up on a wet roof in the dark.

  • Move furniture, rugs, and electronics out of the way and lay down towels or a tarp.
  • Put a bucket or trash can under the drip.
  • If the ceiling is bulging with water, poke a small hole in the center of the bulge so it drains into the bucket instead of bringing the drywall down.
  • Turn off the breaker for any light fixture or outlet that is getting wet.
  • Take photos and video of the ceiling, the attic if it is safe, and anything damaged. Your insurance company will want them.
  • Call or text 972-246-7448 with your address and a few photos.

Do you offer emergency roof repair?

Yes. We take emergency roof repair and roof leak calls in Fort Worth and North Texas seven days a week, day or night.

When you reach out, I'll ask what you are seeing and where the water is coming in. Photos help a lot. Then we set a time to come out, stop the water, and look at what caused it. Common causes after a storm are torn or missing shingles, a cracked pipe boot, lifted flashing at a chimney or wall, or a tree limb through the decking. Arrival time depends on weather, safety, and how many calls come in after a big storm, so I'll give you an honest time when we talk.

Once the leak is under control, we come back for the permanent fix. Often that is a standard roof repair. If the damage is widespread, we'll walk you through a roof replacement estimate instead.

Can you tarp my roof after a storm?

Yes. Emergency tarping is one of the most common calls we get after hail and wind storms.

A properly installed tarp keeps rain out of your attic and ceilings until permanent repairs are made. We size the tarp past the damaged area and secure it with battens instead of loose sandbags, so it holds through wind. We photograph the damage before we cover it. See our emergency tarp installation page for more detail.

Will insurance cover an emergency roof repair or storm claim?

Many homeowner policies cover reasonable emergency steps to prevent more damage after a covered storm loss, but it depends on your policy.

Most policies expect you to take reasonable steps to stop more damage, which is why tarping quickly matters. We give you photos and an invoice for the emergency work, and we document the storm damage for your claim. We can meet the adjuster at your property and walk the roof with them. You pay your deductible as your policy requires. We have assisted with more than 2,500 hail and water damage claims across North Texas. Learn more about our storm restoration service.

How much does an emergency roof repair cost?

It depends on the damage, your roof type, and what it takes to stop the water. You get a detailed estimate with the project total before permanent work begins.

A small repair, like replacing a few wind-lifted shingles or a cracked pipe boot, costs far less than repairing decking under a fallen limb. If the damage is from a storm, the emergency tarp and repair may be part of your insurance claim. Either way, I explain the options and the project total in plain terms before we do the permanent work.

Is a roof leak an emergency?

It is an emergency when water is coming through a ceiling or light fixture, a ceiling is sagging, or a storm has torn open the roof.

A small water stain with no active dripping usually is not an emergency, but it should not wait long. Book a free inspection and we'll find the source before the next storm makes it worse. Fort Worth sees heavy spring hail and summer storms, and small leaks can turn into rotted decking and mold.

Where do you offer emergency roof repair?

We cover Fort Worth and the surrounding North Texas area, including Arlington, Burleson, Mansfield, and the rest of Tarrant County.

If you are not sure we cover your neighborhood, call or text and ask. See all our Fort Worth service area page.
